Food Fairs!
From my latest blog wanderings I have come across two exciting food events coming up in the San Francisco Bay Area. The San Francisco Street Food Fest is a one-day food extravaganza on August 22nd that will benefit La Cocina (an awesome organization worth a post in itself). Activities start at 11am in front of La Cocina (Folsom between 25th and 26th) and go until 7pm. Events include food vendors, a scavenger hunt and a silent auction (which seems to feature exciting but incredibly pricey gifts).
The Eat Real Festival, “Putting the food back in fast”, is in Oakland the weekend of August 28-30th. Taking place in Jack London Square, Eat Real Fest promises street food for under $5, music, beer, butchering contests and more. Check their events page for more info on activities and how to buy tickets. Proceeds from the weekend will benefit local organizations promoting access to sustainable and affordable food, so you can feel good about spending money AND eating.
Check out both events and let thelocalspoon know what you think!
